Raspberry Steel Cut Oats

I had a little love affair with pimped-up oats during one of the many Melbourne lockdowns - and so this recipe was born!

Steel cut oats are the least processed form of oats when compared with rolled oats or quick oats. They take a little more patience to cook, but are worth it for a truly different experience with a humble bowl of oats.

Serves: 3-4

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup steel cut oats

  • 3 cups water

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1/2 cup frozen raspberries

  • 1 serve of unflavoured collagen or vanilla protein powder (optional)

To Serve (per bowl):

  • 1 tbsp hemp seeds

  • 1 tbsp nut butter

  • 1 tbsp pure maple syrup

  1. Bring water and salt to the boil.

  2. Add steel cut oats to the water.

  3. Return to the boil and then reduce to a low simmer.

  4. Mix the raspberries through.

  5. Cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  6. Take off the heat and stir through the collagen or protein powder.

  7. Serve topped with hemp seeds, nut butter and maple syrup.
